Castle Rue Missed Chances With More Last Minute Heartache
Tuesday night saw Bishops Castle take on Four Crosses away from home.
The team saw Joe McKay returning in goal looking fresh from his engagement holiday in Greece. Congratulations Muffin.
Anyway, onto the game. It started with some great early pressure from the Castle and in particular Seth Bateson, Seth carved out some great chances for himself and others but unfortunately couldn’t finish it all off with a goal.
The back four of Robbie Payne, Ben Millington , Jamie Oakley and Matty Owen were solid once again throughout the game.
Also returning to the midfield was Toby Mills proving he can last longer than 20 seconds he managed on the Saturday. Toby and in particular Sam Jones were causing Four Crosses problems out wide.
The first half ended and how it was still 0-0 after it being as one sided as a Halem Globetrotters game.
The manager at halftime just reiterated to keep doing what your doing and remain patient, goals will come.
Castle were now playing down the hill and that helped with even more pressure on the Four Crosses defenders. That pressure finally ended with a Goal for Tom Edwards. This was Tom’s 6th goal in 3 games and has hit form coming into the end of the season.
Even after the goal Castle piled on yet more pressure but the second goal was as illusive as a Josh McGlynn “Best One Yet” comment.
The second goal looked to be a certainty when Sammy Jones beat literally everyone and only had to square it one of two Castle players for a tap in……….. In all my years I’ve never seen a worse pass than what Sammy produced in all my life! He somehow missed everyone and couldn’t even blame his right foot!
The game was tense and looked to be going Castles way even though their game management was questionable at best……….. That poor game management came back to bite us in the ass when in the 96th and last minute Four Crosses somehow mustered together 5 passes and bumbled the ball into the back of the net.
Absolute heartbreak for Castle and game ended 1-1.
